Richard Wylie is a guitarist, composer and instructor who lives in the State College area with his wife and his two children. He has taught students in all styles and all levels for over 15 years in Central Pennsylvania and Virginia. His goal is to help students realize their full potential on guitar in a relaxed and focused environment.
Richard’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Ithaca College, Eastman Conservatory summer sessions, and intensive jazz instruction with Tom Rizzo in Los Angeles. His teaching is also reinforced by his live performance experience in New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.
Richard has performed extensively in Central Pennsylvania and on the Penn State Campus including the Festival of the Arts, Eisenhower Auditorium, and the Nittany Lion Inn. During these events, he has featured many original compositions from his two independently released CD’s “Monologue” and “Views From A Train.”
In his teaching Richard integrates his rock, jazz, and classical background to provide personal and insightful instruction to students at all levels
